People who have abortions are losers. Just as a Seth Yantiss.

Looks like I stirred the turd over at SayAnyThingBlog.com a bit. Seth Yantiss, who apparently is one of the site's resident dittoheads, is taking talking points from the Scarlet Letter in his stance against abortion. Wouldn't addressing the common reasons women have abortions (lack of health care, stable income, housing) be a better approach to preventing abortions than castigating women?

Do you get the impression that Yantiss would be the kind of guy who'd use any and all connections to try to get out of a speeding ticket, yet thinks other people need to take resonsibility for their actions . . . or else?

Seth Yantiss: Though it may sound mean, we should prop these people up as the losers they are and show all of our children the reasons NOT TO DO WHAT THEY HAVE DONE. These people would only server as an example to others on how not to live. The majority would get it faster, seeing the real world example of where being stupid gets you, and within a generation, fewer people would mimic the poor behavior. By coddling and apologizing for f-ups we tell the next generation that "it's okay to screw up... someone will cover for you... don't worry about it."

Comments:
Seth Yantiss is far from a loser. If the world were populated by more men like Seth and Rob we'd all be much better off. They are responsible fathers, sons, MEN

Thanks for stopping by, Carol. If you read the post carefully, you'll notice that I never referred to Seth Yantiss as a loser.

Do you think Seth should decide what's best for everyone in America?

Do you think Seth should decide what's best for everyone in America?

He's not doing that.

Man,..you sure change the subject when you're losing an argument.

You also avoid the truth.

Your argument is a loser.

Ed,

Why does my participation in the global debate constitute "[Me] deciding what's best for America"?

Are your not intending to be snarky? Or is it a general rule that liberals, when presented with the facts, can only result to defamations of character and/or context?

Can you provide me with even one example of my being anything less than completely honest about my intellectual impressions and/or feelings on any subject?

Yet you think I would use my "Connections" to get out of a ticket? We (my family and I) accidentally walked out of a petsmart last year with a cat collar we did not pay for. I noticed it when we got in the car. We all walked back into the store, stood in line, and paid for the collar. I have two kids. Children learn by example, and they learn by example well. I try to set that example. I strive for integrity in everything I do. My life's only goal (unfortunately) is to live by the set of ethics that I have developed. Loosely based upon the principle of "Do unto others, as you would have done unto you". I believe in Karma and the Atheistic view of "god is your subconscious". I try to program myself with as many good deeds as is possible. I (WITHOUT FAIL) am a gentleman around women. I do this with my Karma, Subconscious, and children in mind.

I would not and do not attempt to cheat on anything. I am brutally honest. F-U very much.

But please, take it upon yourself to categorize me a "Nut" to hold the view that people should be responsible enough for their actions as to not lower the value of human life. The "Free and Fun Filled World of Abortion" lowers the value of human life. I would be against anti-abortion legislation if it was limited to rape victims, incest, endangerment, and a SMALL percentage of (OOPS). But NOOOOO, people have to use it like a fad. As a constant correction to the mistakes, when they know full well what the consequences might be. The result is a degradation of the value of the individual. A devaluation of humanity which will ultimately not lead to harmony. A decline in the abhorrence of abortion hardens our hearts towards others. The social-psychological ramifications of any decline in sympathy may well be enormous. Imagine a country that shrugs at victims of a hurricane. This could be yours with just a wit less compassion.

ROE v WADE is bad law, BTW, as this is a STATE issue. As the country was designed, the states can vote on certain topics, and if *you* (the citizen) like that vote... you can move there.

Eh... I'm done.

Why does my participation in the global debate constitute "[Me] deciding what's best for America"?

Because you're trying to mandate how other people should live their lives. You're trying to make decisions that aren't yours to make.

Can you provide me with even one example of my being anything less than completely honest about my intellectual impressions and/or feelings on any subject?

No.

Yet you think I would use my "Connections" to get out of a ticket?

Yes. Because my experiences tell me that most peoples beliefs don't stand up to real-world tests. I'm glad to hear that you live by the golden rule. I do too. I don't see why you need to swear to make your point.

I don't think you understand that I'm as much against abortions as you are, but still think they need to be legal and safely performed at times. Preventing pregnancies is the best form of abortion abatement.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think it's safe to assume that a large percentage of women opting for abortions do not have the luxury of moving to another state.

Sorry, but I have a hard time relating to the American Taliban. Prevention seems like a more viable solution than your Scarlet Letter approach to attacking women who decided they weren't in a position to raise a child.

I wouldn't define my approach as "Scarlet Letter" -esque, I'm just saying stop making excuses for people when they make mistakes. Let them accept responsibility for their actions. Telling people abortions is okay, allows them to think it's okay... do you see how that works? If I tell you, it's okay to kill, then you kill, how can I then tell you it's wrong?

But wait... If you agree with me, why would you berate my consternation of the action by dubbing the offenders as "Losers"?
