Dad says soldier/son's death in Iraq "was a waste"

Via AmericaBlog.com.
Dad says soldier/son's death in Iraq "was a waste": "I am outraged at what I see as the cause of his death. For nearly three years, the Bush administration has pursued a policy that makes our troops sitting ducks. While Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that our policy is to 'clear, hold and build' Iraqi towns, there aren't enough troops to do that.

In our last conversation, Augie complained that the cost in lives to clear insurgents was 'less and less worth it,' because Marines have to keep coming back to clear the same places. Marine commanders in the field say the same thing. Without sufficient troops, they can't hold the towns. Augie was killed on his fifth mission to clear Haditha...."

There is more at AmericaBlog.

Five times we've had to clear out the same city? Yet Rumsfeld keeps telling us we have enough troops on the ground? Bush says we're making progress while our troops recapture the same city for the fifth time?

They've proven that they can lie the country into a war, but unfortunately, they've also proven that they don't know how to plan to fight a war, run a country, or win a war.

Bush put our soldiers into a situation where they can't win, that they didn't need to be in, and one that he now refuses to remove them from. That's criminal.

How long until this gold star father gets the Cindy Sheehan treatment from the Right wingers? How dare he have an opinion in opposition to the war criminal in chief?
